Day 23 - It's a juicy kinda day!

ABOUT ME
"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover" - Mark Twain

"I dare you to try." -Me

I heard The Roches singing the the "Hallelujiah Chorus " from Handel's "Messiah" in my head this morning. I'm on the right side of 155 lbs. for the first time in over 10 years. After days of frustration I finally got a little relief. Yes, my friends, slow and steady wins the course. Persevere. Persevere. Persevere. I am a rock.

For the first time since this whole journey started 23 days ago I am truly letting myself embrace and BELIEVE that I'm actually going to do this. Yes, I can talk a good game and put on a good face but it's finally actually sinking into my psyche. I'm gonna do this. I'm actually going to lose 20lbs in 30 days. That's AMAZING. Really - it's flipping AMAZING.

In continuing the shake-up of my life, KC has put me on a juice regimen for 2 days. Real juice. I watched it be created from real carrots and apples and ginger. It's yummy and tangy and satisfying. I didn't think I could actually do "just" juice. Yes, I'm hungry. But who am I kidding - I'm NOT going to starve and it's NOT going to kill me. I'm just going to be hungry. I can do this for 2 days. Like I said in the beginning of this journey - it's NOT forever. It's to kick-start my ass into gear and then we move into a program of moderation. Besides - I really do dig shaking my life up and getting out of the doldrums of routine. It keeps me frosty.

There are a couple of other cool milestones besides being on the right side of 155. Unbelievably - I did a pull-up. Not from a standing position or anything that momentous - I gave it a hop, but it's a real-honest-to-god pull-up. AND... I got through the tough ab work-out on my beloved "I Want That Body" video with Tamilee Webb this morning. Now, it wasn't all neat and controlled like I am on the beginner's work-out. But I got THROUGH it. I've had that video for probably 8 years and NEVER made it through the tough ab work-out before. I'm rocking! Who says middle age is downhill? Baby - I am climbing and on my way UP!

The keys to the world of Buff-dom (as in - being buff not being IN the buff ;-) are in my hands and I have begun unlocking the door. Pretty cool and not bad work for 3 weeks and a couple of days.

Here's the REALLY good word:

  1. I followed your link on FB. I am inspired. I love your blog about the raw way. I too started the coffee-fruit-juice daytime eating in May and lost ten but I have plateau'd. My biggest downfall is the evenings but at least I am maintaining. I will let you be THE ROCK. I am, after all, licking my wounds of unemployment and worried about the god-awful recession. Stay strong. -Deb
